New XMC board based a Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC

press-releases

Quimper, France, May, 19th 2022 - Interface Concept, leader in the design and manufacturing of COTS embedded boards and systems for high-computing applications, is unveiling the IC-MPS-XMCa, a Switched Mezzanine Card (XMC) based on a Xilinx Zynq® UltraScale+™ multiprocessor System on Chip (MPSoc). This new XMC product extends Interface Concept’s existing FPGA board product range.

The IC-MPS-XMCa mezzanine card delivers unmatched compute density with the Xilinx UlstraScale+™ architecture built on a Dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A53 MPCore™ up to 1.3GHz and a Dual-core Arm® Cortex®-R5F MPCore™ running at 533MHz. With this highly integrated chip, the IC-MPS-XMCa features a concentrate of technology on a single XMC module.

This XMC board is pluggable on any carrier board and SBC equipped with an XMC slot. This mezzanine card dramatically extends the communication, networking capabilities and processing power of the system, without requiring any additional space or slot.

The processing MPSoC processor connects via a x2 PCIe Gen2 link to the carrier board, and provides 4 * Ethernet 1G BASE-T ports, 2 * RS232/422 ports, 1 * CAN port, 2 * USB 2.0 ports and 12 * GPIOs.

The board features two Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) that can be used to implement additional protocols, like a Serial Front Panel Data Port (SFPDP) protocol for high speed data transfer.

“This mezzanine card provides a cost-effective solution to upgrade and enhance a carrier board. An interesting version of this board has to be pointed out. Indeed, Interface Concept takes advantage of its skill in VDHL development and networking knowledge to offer with this XMC a unique and efficient Gigabit Ethernet redundancy solution” said Pierre Ansquer, Interface Concept’s Business Development and Customer Support Director.

The IC-MPS-XMCa is available in air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions (-40°C to 75°C).
